Liz Nguyen
MA, CCC-SLP

Liz Nguyen, MA, CCC-SLP is a medical Speech-Language Pathologist with over 10 years of experience in the assessment and treatment of swallowing and upper airway disorders. She is also a Licensed Myofunctional Therapist.

Background and Experience

Liz is a medical Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who has dedicated her career to treating patients with swallowing and upper airway disorders. With extensive experience working with young adults, geriatrics, and medically fragile populations, her journey took an interesting turn when she began seeing more patients with orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD). This led her to recognize the significant impact these issues have on overall health.

Recognizing the connection between swallowing disorders and myofunctional therapy sparked a new passion for Liz. She discovered that by combining her expertise in swallowing with a focus on orofacial muscles, she could offer a more holistic approach to patient care. This inspired her to pursue additional training in myofunctional therapy, allowing her to help patients in a more comprehensive way.

Over the years, Liz has completed a variety of specialized training courses in the following topics:

  • The D'Onofrio Institute for Advanced Myofunctional Studies

  • FEES: Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing

  • MBSS: Modified Barium Swallow Studies

  • Tracheostomy and Upper Airway Disorders

  • Tracheostomy Tubes and Mechanical Ventilation

  • Foundations in Manual Therapy: Voice and Swallowing Disorders

  • MDTP: McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program

  • Postural Stability and Oral Motor Feeding Disorders

  • Oral Sensory Feeding Disorders and Mealtime Management

  • Swallowing Disorders and Medically-Based Feeding Problems

Liz graduated with honors from the University of Central Florida College of Business Administration and earned her master’s degree from the University of Central Florida College of Health Sciences. She started her first private practice in New Orleans in 2017.

Her second business, Bloom Therapy Group, is especially close to her heart. Inspired by her son’s journey with a tongue-tie that resulted in speech and feeding challenges, Liz set out to create the kind of clinic she would want to bring her own child to—a place that provides compassionate and effective care without the long waitlists or confusing advice.

Liz has also been actively involved in the field, serving as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Speech Language and Hearing Association (LSHA) since 2021. She is also an ACE continuing education recipient. In her free time, Liz likes to read research articles, read real books, and go to brunch with friends.
