Maegan Pistorius
MCD, CCC-SLP
Maegan Pistorius, MCD, CCC-SLP, is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with over 13 years of experience in medical speech pathology.
Background and Experience
Growing up in Southwest Louisiana - where food is not only a source of nourishment but a central part of social connection and joy - Maegan developed a deep appreciation for the role eating plays in overall quality of life. This background shaped her therapeutic approach, emphasizing patient-centered goals while prioritizing safety and function.

Although she spent over a decade working with the geriatric population, Maegan felt a growing interest in swallowing and oral function across the lifespan. Her personal experience navigating her son’s journey with tethered oral tissues inspired her to pivot professionally, focusing on pediatric feeding and orofacial development.

Maegan has a particular interest in orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) and the impact these patterns can have on feeding, speech, breathing, sleep, and overall wellness. She incorporates principles of myofunctional therapy to support proper oral resting posture, nasal breathing, and efficient oral-motor patterns—laying a foundation for long-term health. She is passionate about helping families understand the “why” behind their child’s symptoms and empowering them with tools for lasting change.

Maegan has completed specialized training in:
• TOTS Specialty Training
• The Myo Approach
• McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program (MDTP)

She is excited to bring her clinical expertise, compassionate care, and commitment to lifelong learning into her work with children and their families.

Outside of work, Maegan can usually be found chasing after her small children, attempting a full conversation with her husband, and catering to the emotional needs of her golden retriever. She enjoys reading uninterrupted, baking cookies that may or may not be shared, and dreaming of Mardi Gras season.
